June 2015 HOA Board Meeting Minutes

Minutes from June 10th 2015 meeting

In attendance were Kat, Jan, and Haley. Kevin stopped by before the meeting.

  1. Thanks to Haley and her husband for replacing the broken bench that is by the nature pond.
  2. The board went to measure the width of the streets. We went out and measured and if you do not include the curbs, our width is 22.5 inches. With the curbs it is 26.5 inches.  From what we could research, this is less than 30” which automatically means we should have no parking signs. If it is 30-36” then there should be no parking on one side. So now we have to confirm with the mayor’s liaison this information.
  3. We discussed the nature pond and the fact that the weeds are growing up again. We voted to have Scott cut it down again so there is a view of the pond -on the side where the benches are.
  4. We discussed pending architectural approvals including a patio. If major construction is going to take place, then there must be city approval as well. The best resource to use is the Department of Code Enforcement.
  5. We discussed Next Door and so far we have 71 residents that have signed up. This is a great sign that people in our community are interested in what is going on in our neighborhood and the surrounding area.
  6. There was an unfortunate situation where a resident found a condom in her front yard. She contacted the HOA board and we suggested that she keep her eyes out for possible teenagers who are violating curfew and report it to the police.
  7. Events: A resident Kathy offered to be in charge of the 4th of July festivities this year. She will be reimbursed for expenses such as ice cream and treats for the children and adults who attend the event.
  8. We spoke to a management company about taking over the duties of managing Amber Ridge. Katalina spoke to one company and the only option is to have the company take over all of the duties and responsibilities. They were not willing to allow our board to keep some of the responsibilities and only take over some. The board chose to table the management company option for now.
  9. Community violations were discussed. Letter were sent out to residents about grass being too high, parking in the street, swale work, and dog feces odor. Residents do have the option to send complaints to the Mayor’s Action Committee on some of these violations.
  10. Kat will be on vacation for the month of July. Haley will be HOA board president in her absense.

There is no meeting in July. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, August 6th at 7:30 pm.
